Introduction to Suturing Skills Course is back and open to all Medical Students!

The course is primarily aimed at pre-clinical students, however we will consider anyone wishing to attend! This is an excellent opportunity to learn suturing techniques, instrument handling and knot tying.

 This session has proved to be very popular in the past and places are limited, so be sure to book your tickets ASAP

If you are a member you have to buy a non-member ticket. You will be reimbursed £3 at the door.

Basic suturing workshop

In this session you will receive a talk on the “Principles of Surgical Suturing”. You will also participate in the following workshops:

* Knot Tying  * One-handed Reef Knot  * Surgeons Knot  * Slip Knot  * Instrument Handling and the Instrument Tie  * Interrupted Suturing  * Mattress Suturing  * Continuous Suturing  * Closing a Surgical Incision   * Deep Dermal Sutures   * Subcuticular Sutures  * Aberdeen Knot.

There will also be an OSCE assessment at the end.

The Annual Joseph Lister Lecture

Due to unforeseen logistical difficulties, the Lister Lecture has been postponed to later on this year where it will take place as part of the King’s College London Annual Surgical Conference. All that have already purchased a ticket will be contacted by next week with a full refund. About: In this session you will first will watch a short video on how to perform simple suturing techniques. Then you then will practice these skills under the guidance of demonstrators.

There will be a competition at end of the event with a prize awarded to the winner
