Professor Harold Ellis

CBE MCh DM FRCS FRCP (Hon.) FRCOG (Hon.) FACS (Hon.)

Professor Harold Ellis (born 13th January 1926) is Emeritus Professor of Surgery in the University of London and a professor in the Department of Anatomy & Human Sciences at the King’s College London School of Medicine.

He is one of the most notable British surgeons of the past fifty years, renowned both for his inspirational teaching and past positions as Vice-President of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal Society of Medicine as well as President of the British Association of Surgical Oncology.

Mr Pankaj Chandak

Mr Pankaj Chandak is an SpR in Multi-Organ Transplant Surgery in the London Deanery and is currently working at Guy’s, St Thomas’ and Great Ormond Street Hospitals.

Having qualified from GKT School of Medicine, he was Anatomy Demonstrator under the tutelage of Professor Harold Ellis, winning the SMEC Award for Best Demonstrator and is currently a member of the Teaching Faculty of Surgical Anatomy at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Mr Pankaj Chandak was awarded the Royal Society of Medicine Adrian Tanner Prize and is also a Hunterian Scholar. In 2014, he delivered the Inaugural KCL Joseph Lister Lecture at the Royal College of Surgeons of England and was awarded the Royal College of Surgeons of England / Johnson and Johnson, Joseph Lister Medal and Prize. His interests include paediatric transplantation, history of medicine and clinical teaching. He is part of the KCL Surgical Society Alumni and a Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society.
